Day Day 1
Arrival & campfire storytelling
Arrive any time between 16:00 and 17:00 on the Friday, and begin to relax.
Your home for the weekend is a beautiful canvas bell-tent, nestled in the rolling hills, each complete with three comfortable beds, luxurious bedding and cosy blankets.
Once you’ve got the log burner lit, there’s nowhere that has a greater sense of hygge. There’s no chance of you being cold at night, and each tent is beautifully spacious and airy.
The whole venue is perfectly geared towards the ultimate weekend of relaxation, from the communal fire pits and outdoor seating for telling old stories and stargazing, the hot, luxurious showers, to the communal cabin for yoga practice and group experiences.
You’ll enjoy a delicious evening meal as a group, before we gather around the crackling campfire for a masterclass in storytelling from Fiona Collins, our local silver-tongued storyteller.
She’ll unlock the rich folklore of the surrounding hills, telling tales about fiery dragons to Tylwith Teg, and help your imagination run wild as you huddle near the flames that keep the night’s shadows at bay.
Day Day 2
Mindful yoga & SUP
Breakfast will be a simple, sociable affair of cereals and fresh fruits served up in the communal cabin. Once you’ve eaten and had time to get ready for the day, prepare yourself for some yoga.
Under the guidance of Poppy Backshall, you’ll focus on creating a sense of mindfulness, as her carefully crafted, gently meditative flow soothes your mind and helps start your day with a sense of serene calm.
You’ll learn the art of Pranayama breath control in yoga, a brilliant tool and skill for you to take home, which can allow you to maintain a sense of calm in your daily life.
After yoga, you have some time for yourself to relax and have some space, before you rejoin the group for a delicious, wholesome lunch.
After lunch, you’ll head to the picturesque town of Llangollen, a step back in time as the River Dee winds lazily past quaint churches and houses and steam trains chug away into the magnificent landscape.
Here, you’ll learn the zen art of stand-up paddle boarding on the tranquil waterways, surrounded by huge skies and lush rolling hills. Use your new yoga balancing and breathing techniques to maintain the perfect position and glide across the water.
This activity is the perfect experience for unwinding, as you focus single-mindedly on the simple art of balance, a powerful mindfulness practice as you close out all distractions and focus fully on one activity.
After dinner, take a midnight stroll in the dark, still night, appreciating the peace and tranquility of the countryside with new friends. You’ll be able to identify the stars, the constellations, and learn about the phases of the moon.
Day Day 3
Foraging & wild cooking
Breakfast will be served in the cabin as it was yesterday, before you set out for a gentle walk with Sheena Corrie around the site for a foraging expedition.
Sheena runs the site with her husband, Jamie, and together they know every inch of its 20 acres and the surprising riches it holds. With their expert guidance, learn which wild plants are edible, and how you can enjoy their tastes and health benefits.
As the season changes, so do the plants. What may produce a stunning flower in spring can go on to bear delicious fruits in autumn. Others have tangy leaves in the summer, perfect for a wild salad or a soothing herbal tea, while their roots impart delicious flavours during the winter months.
Understand the delicate balance of nature’s own larder and you’ll feel so much more connected to the Earth. Once you’ve learned to forage, every walk becomes a mindful act and a wonderful meditation in its own way, as you study your surroundings for a seasonal taste.
Gathering up your harvest, together we’ll prepare something delicious that you can take away as a delicious memory of your Wild Wellness Retreat. Perhaps a wild herb vinegar or a Gorse flower cordial, depending on what you forage.
Then, after another fresh, wholesome lunch, we’ll enjoy another meditative yoga session, before getting stuck into a hands-on wild kitchen.
Head to the kitchen to grab some seasonal veg, nicely ask the hens if you can take a few fresh eggs, and create a meal as a group, from scratch, as we gather around the campfire with our wide range of local, seasonal ingredients.
Chat with your new friends as we enjoy the simple pleasures, working together to create a stunning dinner in a truly sociable, beautiful atmosphere.
Then, with a full stomach, relax by the campfire as we toast marshmallows and sip hot chocolate, reflecting on your weekend in nature.
We encourage you to look back on your weekend and contemplate together how you’ll take away the things you’ve learned.
This is more than a weekend retreat, this is a toolkit for a more mindful life. One where your mind, body and soul are harmonised with nature. Your life, rewilded.
Day Day 4
Time to go
The morning is yours to enjoy at your leisure. You’ll enjoy one last breakfast, before you head out around noon on Monday.
Get the details of your new friends as it’s hugs all round, and set off home with a great sense of peace of mind after this hugely regenerative and rejuvenating weekend.
