How do I get to Thassos?
Unlike the islands you can fly straight into, Thassos doesn’t have its own airport – and that’s part of its charm.
With Jet2, you’ll fly into Kavala International Airport, before travelling to the mainland ferry port and hopping across to the island. The crossing to Thassos Town takes around 40 minutes, giving you just enough time to get your first glimpse of the island from the water.
Beaches
There’s the long, picturesque stretch of Golden Beach, backed by lush green mountains, to the dazzling shores of Marble Beach, where bright turquoise waters meet smooth white pebbles. Thassos Town is the island’s capital and a great place to get your bearings.
You can explore the old harbour, browse the shops, stop for a coffee or wander through the remains of the Ancient Agora.
Go chasing waterfalls
Fancy swapping the beach towel for walking boots? Thassos has hiking trails winding through its forests and mountains, with natural sights and waterfalls to discover along the way. Try paths around the island’s highest mount, Ypsario.
Come hungry...
The island is known for locally produced ingredients including olive oil and honey, alongside fresh seafood, grilled meats and plenty of classic Greek favourites. Find a taverna overlooking the sea, order a table full of dishes to share and settle in.
Where should you stay?
One of the best things about Thassos is that it isn’t one-size-fits-all. Want somewhere with plenty going on? Potos and Limenaria are lively choices, with beaches, restaurants and bars close by. Prefer a slower pace? Look towards Skala Rahoni or Skala Prinos, where you can lean into a more peaceful island rhythm. Or choose Thassos Town for a mix of history, harbour views, restaurants and easy access to the rest of the island.
